Kwai Tsing Theatre Black Box Theatre| Breaking Hell: Korea Edition

Description
Funeral Ritual X Contemporary Dance
Having Experienced Life and Death, Seeing the Five Skandhas
Inviting deities to the altar, burning incense to guide the way, the departed soul leaves the netherworld, breaking free from hell and stepping on the azure clouds.
Choreographer Tsang Kuk-san dedicatedly delved into this subject with his creative team over a five-year project. Taking the Cantonese ritual 'Breaking Hell' as a starting point, they collaborated with four Korean dancers to reinterpret the tradition, infusing it with the unique allure of Korean bodily expressions and fusing traditional and contemporary aesthetics. On a stage where reality and illusion intertwine, they weave a soul-crossing ritual.
The road to Huangquan is vast and misty, and the gates of the underworld are mysterious and profound. Break free from the endless hells and save countless souls.
